With the “scattered rain showers and thunderstorms” coming and going, you know we’ll soon be saying toodles(!) to the torrid kisses of the sun. What will you remember most fondly from the dog days? Road trips? All-nighters? Flings? Concerts? Did you go on that adventure you’ve been pining after for three years? Have you gotten rid of that person who pulls you down? Kindled a new flame? Finally dared to kick the ass out of that thing that scares you shitless?

“I used to skate too!” is probably the lamest thing you can say to a professional skateboarder; being the one who uttered these words makes me the silliest person ever. For someone who usually doesn’t get starstruck, I got dumbfounded when I came face to face with this awesomeness.

A skate summit was held last March 31 for the Converse Asia Crown. The event included a competition; the winner gets to represent Asia in tourneys all over the globe (that, 50K and Converse Apparel).
It was when I met him.
The setup of the ramps was a letdown - many said so. Organizers, please talk with legit consultants next time!

I think I saw from them some head shaking and a bit of sneering, probably aimed at the obstacles, but being the pros that they are, they just went on doing kick-ass tricks.

Recently, I made a commitment to come up with an article for a company circulated newsletter. Although it’s voluntary, not the least about merits really, it feels damn good to write and get “published” again. My first after umpteen years. :))
Title was not mine, and I missed saving a few edits I made (or might have missed editing them in the first place, ha ha) (so why didn’t they edit it then?).
I’m rusty so I’ve got to start with something right?! But,where the hell is my name? Is it a sign that I sucked and this is fate’s way of saving me from embarrassment?
I guess I just have to go practice some more writing then!

Earlier, it was announced that Foo Fighters is not pushing through with its Singapore concert, and this might also be the case for the whole Asian tour. They said that it was due to Dave Grohl’s medical condition. He was advised by several doctors to give his voice a rest.
I know how sad it must be especially for the Filipinos who planned to fly there just to see them perform. I know no amount of consolation will appease those people right now.
After I heard about it this afternoon, I said, that must be better than Dave Grohl losing his voice. If you think I’m that insensitive, I am sorry. Maybe I don’t have the slightest idea how hard it is to look for ways to buy tickets for a show abroad, how stressful it is to book flights, look for accommodations and shell out thousands for that one night, build up so much expectation then see all of it shoved into oblivion; but I’m not taking it back.
I have no right to trivialize what people feel about it. I give them all the right to be disappointed. It’s just that I’ll be more devastated if I would have to hear that he might not be able to sing anymore because he refused to take heed.
I feel heavy about this. But let’s also look at the bigger picture. If you’re a fan, you would know how passionate the Foos are with their music. Of course this must have been their last resort. Let us just all wish him well and hope that they get to play again soon (even here in Manila).

an evaluation of my dancing mediocrity
After the second set of eights, I got lost in the steps *facepalm*. In my mind, I made a number of excuses why it happened; I was not in a good location - too awkward to see the instructor; I got disoriented by the other dancers, etc. Talk about defense mechanism!
In hindsight, I believe the ones to blame are my inept memory, my weak concentration and of course, lack of practice. Who was I to ever think that passion for dancing was all I needed?! D’oh!
First of all, I haven’t been dancing for years now and never seriously did for any long period. So because of that, I don’t really have much control over my body.
Second, I don’t have the mind. More than ever, I’m believing that too much multitasking is takes it’s toll - low concentration, focus and all. Aside from that, my memory is messing with me. Something comes up in my mind and the next second, it’s as if I suddenly have amnesia. How then, can I be expected to remember steps that easily?
So, from now on, for an hour at the least, every week, I will try to engage in dance practices via youtube tutorials (LOL); do some concentration exercises, learn to have more focus and find ways to enhance my memory.
It’s never too late.
